We made our decorated tee shirts on the fourth of July so they were about stars and stripes. Crayola makes fabric markers which can be set with heat either by ironing or putting in the dryer. Instructions come on the box. Be sure to place sheets of paper under the fabric to prevent bleed-through. I made some stars of heavy paper in various sizes which they traced around and added to their own artwork. The tee shirts, white cotton, were purchased at our local crafts store, Michaels. The children were very serious about the project, thinking about what they would do before they began and as a result, the finished product was almost professional! This project could be adapted to other holidays or just be wherever inspiration takes them. |
