I found these bird houses at Michael's craft store for about $5.00 ea. Using what we had on hand in the way of latex house paint, with the addition of some small bottles of touch up paint from the hardware store, we turned them into "art" houses for birds. You need paint that will survive outside and that kind of paint is going to be hard to get out of clothes. Cover up. If you do get painted, wash immediately. You need drying time, both after the first coat and the artistic embellishments. We had plastic cups for each color brush. This was easier and more successful than trying to wash brushes after each use. Provide lots of brushes, color, rags and water and turn the artists loose. See what you get. One of our houses says "Come In" on the roof. Very hospitable. Now we just need occupants. I don't have any control over that one. A word of warning: I bought two different designs and one was more popular than the other. Have fun resolving that one. |
