  TITLE     POTATO PRINT GIFT WRAP
DESCRIPTION     Potato Print Christmas trees in pots on brown wrapping paper
DETAILS     Cut a russet potato in half. On paper, draw a Xmas tree which will fit inside the potato half. I did mine by folding the paper in half so the sides would be symmetrical. Cut out. Place the template on the potato and tack down. With a knife, cut away the potato flesh around the tree so it stands out in relief. An adult should should do the cutting, it's tricky and dangerous. Lay out your paper for printing on a flat surface. I get a better print if I have something soft underneath like a dish towel. Apply water based green paint (buy at a craft store ) to the tree on the potato with a thick paintbrush. Press potato to paper to make print. Refresh the paint after each printing for a full image. Do all the trees. While they are drying, draw a pot, affix to the other half of the potato and cut out, bringing the pot into relief. Chances are you can cut that potato half in half as the pot is going to be much smaller than your tree. Follow the same procedure as for the tree, cutting, adding paint and pressing the image into the paper.
