TITLE | SACHET BAGS | ||||
DESCRIPTION | Little cloth bags filled with sweet scents | ||||
DETAILS |
This is so easy and so satisfying as it's a delightful little gift. Surely you have some scraps of fabric left over from a project, along with gift ribbon. Our bags when finished measured 5" by 7". We folded the fabric so we only had to sew two seams. If you do it that way, remember to double the width of your fabric before you cut! My granddaughter who is eight, likes to use the sewing machine and with careful supervision, she can sew the seams. We cut the open edges at the top with pinking shears. As for the filling, we decided to make our own and went on a nature hunt to see what we could find that smelled good.
Combinations we concocted. 1. Mint leaves and lemon peel for one. 2. Lavender (leaves and flowers) for another. 3. pine needles, bay leaves, rosemary and thyme. 4. rose petals. All, with the exception of the lemon peel came from the garden which added to the fun. Everything fresh needs to be dried. Spread your goodies on a plate and set them in a warm, dark place for one week. Now if you've only got a day with your grandchildren and can't wait a week for your treasures to dry, you can always buy your filling at a craft store, or make it an ongoing project. |
