I went to Coyote
Point with my daughter-in-laws Mother's group when my grandson was
three. It is a wonderful place to take groups as they have classes and
tours, but it is also a nice outing for grandparents and grandchildren.
Included are one and a third acres of gardens with a hummingbird garden,
a butterfly habitat and an area of native plants. In the environmental
hall which is devoted to the six ecosystems found in the San Francisco
Bay Area, there are fascinating interactive displays which appeal to all
ages, including senior citizens! There's a waterfall and pond in the
aviary where dozens of indigenous shorebirds and songbirds make their
home. And last, but not least are 150 rescued , non releasable animals
native to California, including a bobcat, river otters, rattlesnakes and
raptors. Cost: seniors $4.00, students 13-17 $4.00 children 3-12 $2.00,
those under 3, free. We found it a magical place. Easily accessible
from highway 101, check their website for a map, as well as
current information on their hours and available activities which are
often seasonal. Phone: 650-342-7755. |
