Shoreline Regional Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the shores of 50 acre shoreline lake. There is a boathouse on the lake where you can rent kayaks, rowboats, canoes and
pedal boats. We rented two pedal boats for the four of us, exploring the lake while racing one another from one destination to another. The sky was so blue and the resident birds of interest, but it was the race that intrigued our ever active three year old grandson. No drifting lazily with fingers dragging in the water for him! WARNING, lengthy pedaling can be hard on the knees and grandchildren have a tendency to get tired of the effort, so it's up to you to bend those knees and pedal the boat back to the dock. Shoreline park also has a cafe serving simple food where we had lunch. Or, alternatively, there is plenty of grassy area for picnicing. There are trails to explore, and a variety of birds to be seen along the way. With bay breezes blowing, they have a designated kite flying area though we never got ours off the ground. Available too are a variety of camp programs all described on their internet site http://www.shorelinelake.com./aquatic/aquatic.htm or phone the boathouse 1-650-965-7474. Cafe 1-650-965-1745. |
